The Mindful Body

Outreach

Every body is uniquely formed and informed by its daily behaviours – both conscious and unconscious. Our bodies are the vessels for our feelings, thoughts, reactions to the world around us. How can we facilitate our bodies to process all its multiple perceptions, therefore making it free and available for the present moment?

The Mindful Body is a workshop that focuses on tuning our awareness into our bodies through mindfulness practices, as well as through playful, movement and dance-based tasks. The intention is to experience and embody our singularities and let it express in our everyday presence and movement.

Nayana works from her decades of experience in ancient practices of Indian classical dance, Yoga, meditation as well as contemporary dance improvisation, and somatic practices such as Feldenkrais. Her exercises are carefully devised to enable the mover to bring their unique inner workings into full expression, which are then held in a space of awareness within the workshop. Pockets of time will be kept for reflection, writing practices and sharing within the group.
